If anyone had told me I was going to spend my entire adult life sick, I would have spent less time learning algebra and more time learning about self-care. Unfortunately, life doesn't always prepare us for the things that happen, but if you're living a life of illness, this book should be able to help. This guidebook discusses everything from faith, to fears, to bodily functions- basically the scope of the frustrations that come with living the sick life. Readers will receive practical tips for surviving chronic illness and still managing to live a full life. Topics include marriage and romantic relationships, caregiver advice, traveling, research and advocacy, and many other aspects of life with chronic illness.

Let me preface this by saying that I have never met Tiffany or Joe, but I feel like I know them. That's because, for the last five years, every Sunday in my Sunday School class, prayers are requested for Tiffany. My Sunday School teacher is a wonderful Godly man who also happens to be Tiffany's daddy. Even with the prayer requests and brief explanation of Tiffany's struggles, I really didn't understand the impact a chronic illness can and does have on individuals and families. Thank you Carl for mentioning this book, and Tiffany and Joe for having the courage to put it all out there by writing this book. I still have a great deal to learn about chronic illness/pain, but this book has gone a long way in helping me to understand how very real the struggle is. I pray I have never been one of those 'eye rollers' and if I have God forgive me. Or if I have ever offered one of those meaningless/useless/hurtful platitudes , I am so very sorry.I recommend this book to anyone who suffers from a chronic condition and to their families, friends and caregivers. It should be required reading for every church, restaurant and entertainment venue out there. God help me to always remember that things aren't always as they appear, to be kind always, and not to judge. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey.

Crazy Chronic Life A Handbook for Living with Chronic Illness edition by Joe Early Tiffany Early Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
I need to get to know Tiffany better! We've been in Facebook groups together, but never really connected. She was SO honest about life with a chronic illness and how it affected her, her husband, and their marriage that I felt like she was sitting in the room with me chatting with a good friend. That's not an experience I have very often. It was nice to know that someone believed it was possible to make a good life when you didn't know what curveballs would come each day.
I especially loved the way she described having to leave her teaching work. It wasn't just a job to her--it was who she was, and she talked about how she could keep that mindset in her life.
I suspect I'll read this over and over again!
Tiffany graciously sent me a review copy so that I could help share about it.
I love this book so much that I read it twice!!
Great tips, had several people read it who I'm close with & they understand better.
This was a book I really enjoyed. I found it at a hard time and it made me smile and even laugh out loud in places. It deals with a difficult subject with humor and grace. I'm dealing several health issues caused by EDS, and I found this book very helpful and comforting. Thank you.
I loved the book! Couldn't put it down until I finished reading it! Thanks to Tiffany and Joe for sharing so much of their personal life with us! Having lived with chronic illness for all of my adult life (19 years old when I contracted crohns disease), I sure can relate to most of these experiences. As you say in your book, chronic illness attacks multiple systems, (GI, joints, eyes, etc.,), So it's our entire body we are fighting against, or fighting for!!!
PS Tiffany, I didn't know "Netflix and Chilling", was an invitation for a night of casual sex!!!! I'm definitely old and out of tune with the younger generation!

This was a refreshingly honest and humorous book for those with chronic health conditions. It's packed with practical and insightful tips on doing daily life with physical limitations. My favorite part of the book was the group of letters written to various well-meaning groups of people who don't understand how their words or lack of understanding impacts those with disabilities. I read those letters thinking, YES!!!! So very true!!! Tiffany hit the nail on the head time and time again with her explanations, all with a good sense of humor and respect. The formatting was not my favorite, which maybe happened because it's an independently published book, but the content is a definite 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend!!!!
Tiffany is one of our star bloggers at Global Genes. Her stories always have me on the floor laughing and crying with their wry humor and painful honesty. Her advice for chronic illness patients has always been broad spectrum. Even if you don't have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, her stories and lessons are important for every chronic illness patient to read and know that these experiences are universal and in some weird way, normal. Whether you're lacking a real life support group, struggling with moving forward through your treatment, or just want a good read this summer where you might actually learn something—this is a great read!
